In my opinion, there are two things required to create and sustain a strong and healthy work environment that (unfortunately) aren’t always a given: relentless curiosity and a need to always be learning. Initially, those things seemed a bit abstract to me, and it took working at AlphaSights to see them come to life. These are things that companies can encourage and value, but they cannot become a living truth unless employees embody those traits innately. That’s why AlphaSights looks for these traits in the people they hire; these qualities must be at their core.

It's the curious types of people that are drawn to a professional services firm like AlphaSights. The job requires constant conversation and discussions that could cover any subject matter, ranging from a new healthcare technology to vegetables. Working on a dynamic portfolio of projects is well suited for the inquisitive type, those that are never satisfied with knowing only part of the story.

As the wise character called Merlin from T.H. White's fantastical story 'The Once and Future King' so eloquently put it, "The best thing...is to learn something...Learn why the world wags and what wags it. That is the only thing which the mind can never exhaust, never alienate, never be tortured by, never fear or distrust, and never dream of regretting. Learning is the only thing for you. Look what a lot of things there are to learn."

Curiosity is something that everyone at AlphaSights shares. It’s what pushes us to develop new ideas to better serve our clients, and delve a little deeper into an industry; it's what bonds us. It's a constant search for new information and knowledge that we're after, and if C.S. Lewis was right about the love of knowledge, then I guess we're all a little mad.
